The Carthage Technical Center opened for classes in August 1965. The building contained four classrooms and programs for Auto Mechanics, Carpentry, Drafting and Design, and Radio and TV repair. Additional classrooms and administrative offices were added in 1975. The new facilities housed programs in Cooperative Education, Business Education, and Machine Shop. In 1978, a large shop and classroom facility was added to house the Agriculture programs. The school was also designated an "Area" Vocational School by the State Department of Education in 1978. The name was changed to "Carthage Technical Center" in February 1995. The Carthage Technical Center South Campus was opened in 2010 directly behind the high school. This state-of-the-art facility houses the Agriculture, Machining, Computer Information Technology and Digital Electronics programs.
