Digital Media Program Video

  • 9th grade - .5 Practical Art credit
    This course will be an introduction to career and technical education programs. Students will be exposed to computer science, health science, machining and manufacturing, agriculture, engineering, carpentry, criminal justice, and family and consumer sciences. This broad introduction class will help students find a program that perhaps they may choose as a career choice after high school.

  • 9th-12th grade - 1 Practical Art credit, Full year

  • 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th Grade – ½ Practical Art credit

    This course is designed for the student interested in working with graphics. Students are instructed in the fundamental features of Adobe Photoshop. They will utilize this program to edit, design photos, and graphics; learn basic computer operations; digital scanning; preparing various documents for output; and apply publishing rules and techniques. Students will create a variety of projects.

     

  • Grade 10, 11, 12 - 1⁄2 Practical Arts credit

    Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in Graphic Design

    Graphic design is an advanced level computer class for students interested in a graphic design career. Students will learn advanced Adobe Illustrator to create professional level print publications, canvas, and banners. Students will learn to apply the principles of design such as color, depth, typography, balance, and focus.  Students will also be given the opportunity to compete in the graphic design competitions and develop graphics for the district and other clients.

     

  • 9th, 10th Grade – ½ Practical Art credit

    This course is designed to introduce and practice the fundamentals of video, audio and graphics production using Adobe Suite software programs. Students will gain basic experience in animation, graphic design, and video production. Students will study and apply all aspects of multimedia production including planning, scripting, and storyboarding to generate projects including elements of text, audio, video, animation, photographs, and graphic images.

     

  • 10th, 11th, 12th Grade – 1 Practical Art credit

    Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in Intro to Media Production

    Media Production  will explore the video production and multimedia marketing fields. Throughout this year-long course, students will work with computer software and electronic equipment vital in the fields of Video Production and Media Delivery. Students will create news stories, commercials, music videos, public service announcements and more. This hands-on class will teach students proper camera techniques, editing skills, lighting, audio, and studio production.

  • 11th, 12th Grade – 1 Practical Art credit

    Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in Media and Advertising I/Media Production and instructor approval 

    Creative Media Production is designed to expand on skills taught in Media Production.  Students will build upon skills specific to video production including video editing and filming, editing audio, special effects, animation, and graphic design. Advanced skills in Adobe Premiere and After Effects will be explored to create dynamic productions. Students are required to be creative, responsible and professional. Students are highly encouraged to either have previously taken a Marketing class or enroll in a Marketing class while taking Creative Media Production.

  • 11th, 12th Grade – 1 Practical Art credit

    Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in Media and Advertising I/Media Production and instructor approval

    Students in Creative Media Production Capstone will also work closely with the school district to create professional promotional videos. Students will also be responsible for all sports programming during the fall, winter and spring sports seasons and operating the video board. Students are required to participate in out of school projects such as Fall Media Day (takes place before school starts in August), video board, and others.  Students are required to be creative, responsible and professional. Students are highly encouraged to either have previously taken a Marketing class or enroll in a Marketing class while taking M&A Capstone. Students will also have the opportunity to create a short film in Creative Media Production. This course will prepare students for a possible career in video content creation, social media, filmmaking, and all digital media platforms.

  • 10th, 11th, 12th Grade – 1 Practical Art credit

    Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in Intro to Creative Media/Intro to Media Production

    Students in this course will examine the basics of producing content for television and broadcast journalism elements.  Students will gain an understanding of both pre-production, on-air, and post-production roles and responsibilities of news broadcasting. 

    In TV Production , students will have the opportunity to create a school newscast that will air online and be distributed through a variety of social media channels. The students will also assist in producing the live streams at all home football and basketball games. New genres of production will be explored including news production and industrial video production.  Students will learn and explore the roles of each crew member involved in broadcasting productions. Throughout the course, students may be required to attend a number of after-school sporting events and activities.  

  • 11th, 12th Grade – 1 Practical Art credit

    Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in Media and Advertising I/TV Production or Digital Media Broadcasting 

    In TV Production  Capstone, students will assist in managing the live streams of all home football and basketball games to thousands of viewers.  Students will have the opportunity to work as a team to produce a LIVE event with the use of graphics, cameras, remote-controlled cameras, video editing, photo editing, audio, and much more.  Students will get out of the classroom, learn by doing and work as a team to produce a professional production seen by thousands of viewers online. Successful completion of this program could qualify students for entry-level employment at local radio and television stations.Throughout the course, students will be required to attend a number of after-school sporting events and activities. Students will have the opportunity to travel to away games and events. Students are required to participate in out of school projects such as Fall Media Day (takes place before school starts in August), video board, and others.  Students are required to be creative, responsible and professional.

     

  • 11th, 12th Grade – .5 Practical Art credit

    Prerequisite: One full Practical Arts credit 

    In Drone Certification Class you will work to get your FAA Unmanned Pilates licenses.  You will log hours in flying time, learn how to do maintenance on your drone, how to read an aviation map and more.  You will look at different job opportunities you will have after obtaining your FAA licenses. This is a growing trend in several industries including Media, Public Safety, Agriculture, Business and Marketing.
