Course Offerings

  • 9th grade - .5 Practical Art credit
    This course will be an introduction to career and technical education programs. Students will be exposed to computer science, health science, machining and manufacturing, agriculture, engineering, carpentry, criminal justice, and family and consumer sciences. This broad introduction class will help students find a program that perhaps they may choose as a career choice after high school.

  • 9th-12th grade - 1 Practical Art credit, Full year
    This course will be an introduction to career and technical education programs.   • 9th, 10th Grade – ½ Practical Art credit
    This course is designed to introduce and practice the fundamentals of video, audio and graphics production using Adobe Suite software programs. Students will gain basic experience in animation, graphic design, and video production. Students will study and apply all aspects of multimedia production including planning, scripting, and storyboarding to generate projects including elements of text, audio, video, animation, photographs, and graphic images.

  • 10th, 11th, 12th Grade – 1 Practical Art credit
    Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in Intro to Creative Media or an application with instructor approval is required (application is included in enrollment packet).
    Media and Advertising I will explore the video production and multimedia marketing fields. Throughout this year-long course, students will work with computer software and electronic equipment vital in the fields of Video Production and Media Delivery. Students will create news stories, commercials, music videos, public service announcements and more. This hands-on class will teach students proper camera techniques, editing skills, lighting, audio, and studio production.

  • 11th, 12th Grade – 1 Practical Art credit
    Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in Media and Advertising I and an application with instructor approval 
    Media and Advertising II is designed to expand on skills taught in Media and Advertising I. Students will build upon skills specific to video production including video editing and filming, editing audio, special effects, animation, and graphic design. Advanced skills in Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop will be explored to create dynamic productions. Students are required to be creative, responsible and professional. Students are highly encouraged to either have previously taken a Marketing class or enroll in a Marketing class while taking M&A II.

  • 11th, 12th, Grade – 1 Practical Art credit
    Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in Media and Advertising I and an application with instructor approval 
    Students in Media and Advertising Capstone will also work closely with the school district to create professional promotional videos and with local businesses to sell, create and display advertisements to be shown at CHS athletic events. Students will also be responsible for all sports programming during the fall, winter and spring sports seasons and operating the video board. Students are required to be creative, responsible and professional. Students are highly encouraged to either have previously taken a Marketing class or enroll in a Marketing class while taking M&A Capstone. This course will prepare students for a possible career in video content creation, social media, filmmaking, and all digital media platforms.

  • 10th, 11th, 12th Grade – ½ Practical Art credit
    Prerequisite: Business Computers
    This course prepares students for careers in business, marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. Students develop competencies in business fundamentals including human relations, communications, selling, promotion, and financing. This instructional program emphasizes the competencies necessary for an individual to achieve success in advertising, buying, fashion merchandising, banking, tourism, and business ownership. The importance of the free enterprise system in a global economy and the American work ethic is stressed.

  • 11th or 12th grade - 1 Practical Art Credit
    Prerequisite: Marketing 1 or Sports Marketing
    Advanced Marketing is a year-long course for students interested in a career in the field of marketing. Students will study communication skills, business ethics, branding and packaging, target marketing, consumer behavior and independent marketing research.

  • 10th, 11th, 12th grade - 1 Practical Art Credit
    Prerequisite: Business Computers
    This course will help students develop a thorough understanding of the marketing concepts and theories that apply to sports and sporting events. The areas this course will cover include basic marketing, target marketing and segmentation, sponsorship, event marketing promotions, sponsorship proposals, and implementation of sports marketing plans. This course will also delve into promotion plans, sponsorship proposals, sports marketing plans, and event evaluation and management techniques.
