Course Offerings


Intro to CTE (Career and Technical Education)

9th grade - .5 Practical Art credit

This course will be an introduction to career and technical education programs. Students will be exposed to computer science, health science, machining and manufacturing, agriculture, engineering, carpentry, criminal justice, and family and consumer sciences. This broad introduction class will help students find a program that perhaps they may choose as a career choice after high school.

ELL Intro to CTE (Career and Technical Education)

9th-12th grade - 1 Practical Art credit, Full year

This course will be an introduction to career and technical education programs. Students will be exposed to computer science, health science, machining and manufacturing, agriculture, engineering, carpentry, criminal justice, and family and consumer sciences. This broad introduction class will help students find a program that perhaps they may choose as a career choice after high school.

Intro to Creative Media (formerly Intro to Multimedia) 

9th, 10th Grade – ½ Practical Art credit

This course is designed to introduce and practice the fundamentals of video, audio and graphics production using Adobe Suite software programs. Students will gain basic experience in animation, graphic design, and video production. Students will study and apply all aspects of multimedia production including planning, scripting, and storyboarding to generate projects including elements of text, audio, video, animation, photographs, and graphic images.

Digital Media and Broadcasting I

10th, 11th, 12th Grade – 1 Practical Art credit

Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in Intro to Creative Media or an application with instructor approval is required

Students in this course will examine the basics of producing content for television and broadcast journalism elements.  Students will gain an understanding of both pre-production, on-air, and post-production roles and responsibilities of news broadcasting. The students will produce a variety of productions including news stories, short films and documentaries. They may also assist the upper-level classes in the school newscast as needed.

Digital Media and Broadcasting II

11th, 12th Grade – 1 Practical Art credit

Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in Digital Media and Broadcasting I and an application with instructor approval 

In Digital Media and Broadcasting II, students will have the opportunity to create a school newscast that will air online and be distributed through a variety of social media channels. The students will also assist in producing the live streams at all home football and basketball games. New genres of production will be explored including news production and industrial video production.  Students will learn and explore the roles of each crew member involved in broadcasting productions. Throughout the course, students may be required to attend a number of after-school sporting events and activities. Students will have the opportunity to travel to away games and events.

Digital Media and Broadcasting Capstone

11th, 12th Grade – 1 Practical Art credit

Prerequisite: Grade of B or higher in Digital Media and Broadcasting I and an application with instructor approval 

In Digital Media and Broadcasting Capstone, students will assist in managing the live streams of all home football and basketball games to thousands of viewers.  Students will have the opportunity to work as a team to produce a LIVE event with the use of graphics, cameras, remote-controlled cameras, video editing, photo editing, audio, and much more.  Students will get out of the classroom, learn by doing and work as a team to produce a professional production seen by thousands of viewers online. Successful completion of this program could qualify students for entry-level employment at local radio and television stations. Throughout the course, students will be required to attend a number of after-school sporting events and activities. Students will have the opportunity to travel to away games and events.
