About Us
The Carthage R-9 AEL Program in partnership with Missouri Adult Education & Literacy, provides academic learning services for adults in the areas of Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education, and English Language Learner Education. On-site classes through Carthage AEL assist adult learners in preparing for higher education, trade schools, and the workforce. Students must attend an Orientation prior to class placement. All AEL services are grant funded and free of charge to qualifying students. All ABE/ASE/HSE & ELL instructors hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and AEL Certification.
NOTE: Students must be at least 17 years of age and not currently enrolled in High School or Homeschool in order to receive AEL services. Those under the age of 17 may participate in AEL services if 16 high school credits or 1,000 hours of homeschool have been previously earned. An age waiver must be submitted to and approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education prior to entrance in AEL and HiSET/GED testing for any student under the age of 17.
